Book Stole My Look {1}

Hi! Thanks for checking out Book Stole My Look. If you come across any similar covers feel free to email me at Thelittlepinkbookboutique@gmail.com. You'll get the cred in the post as well!!

This Weeks Books Are:

Angelfire (Angelfire #1) by Courtney Allison Moulton and Defiance (Defiance #1) by C.J. Redwine.

I own Angelfire but have yet to read it. (I really need to work on my TBR Pile) The first impression that I get from both covers is that they appear to be fiery, redheaded, kick-ass heroines who don't take any sass from anyone!

If you followed me over at My Enchanted Bookshelf, and if you've read a few posts I've got up here, then you'll probably already know that I love covers that have very limited palettes, using just a few colors and working off of those for shading and lighting; and that more gothic-style covers really appeal to me. So it is most likely of no shock that I adore both of these covers.

What I love about Angelfire is the background. What I get from it is 'Tumultuous'. And from reading they synopsis on Goodreads, I definitely find that fitting since it deals with ...an ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen... yep, I think it shows that. I also like the color and font used for the title. The softer color of the font shows that there is a subtle, softer side to Ellie, the main character. I think the placement is great as well for the title/author credit; leaving the top of the cover for the imagery.

When it comes to Defiance's cover, I enjoy that a darker palette is used for all of the colors. There is no true white anywhere, even though a portion is lighter in color than most of the rest. I also love how if you look closely at the portion just above the title, you can see the fortress, or the walls of Baalboden lurking in the shadows. I believe the main character to be stealthy, light on her feet, maybe almost like a sniper or assassin. The font used is perfect as well. The trees in the background really pull me in for some reason. They are very realistic and beautifully done. They aren't perky, happy branched trees. They hold an air of foreboding, mystery to them. Unfortunately Defiance doesn't release until August 28th 2012 - but you can enter to win a copy on Goodreads.

Happy Reading,
Laura
