QUESTION: Does participating in book tours/cover reveals and author guest posts drive traffic to your blog? What types of problems have you encountered when hosting them? As a blog follower, are you ever turned off by these kinds of posts? How much publicity is too much?

MY ANSWER: I am rather new to being a host of book tours, blasts, cover reveals, etc. so I will base this on my experiences thus far. Does it drive traffic to your blog? Yes, actually, I do see spikes in page views when I post a tour/blast/reveal, mostly if a giveaway is attached as well. What types of problems have I encountered when hosting? None. As a follower, am I turned off by these posts? Nope. I think they are an integral part of blogging, both for the author, reader, and blogger. How much publicity is too much? I will say that it is kind of frustrating when you flip through your blog feeds and see a plethora of posts identical to your own. What will make a reader visit your post over someone else's? Since it's the exact same post, they aren't going to visit every blog on their feed who posted the same post. So that I can say could be "too much."
